Michael "Mike" Roger

Michael “Mike” Roger’s journey from a small-town kid in Katy, Texas, to a dedicated serviceman in the U.S. Army and eventually a leader in the veteran community, is one filled with determination and growth. Raised in a town known for football and rodeo, Mike knew early on that college wasn’t the right path for him immediately after high school. Instead, he opted for the structure and discipline of the military, joining the Army in 1996.

Initially placed in supply and logistics due to an ADHD diagnosis, Mike wasn’t satisfied with this career path but completed his tour without issue. After 9/11, Mike felt the call to serve again, but the influx of younger recruits kept him from rejoining immediately. In 2009, during the troop surge, Mike returned to active duty as a Cavalry Scout—a role he had always dreamed of, donning spurs and Stetsons alongside his fellow cavalrymen. This position, stationed at Fort Hood, marked a significant turning point in Mike’s military career.

Mike’s time in the Army saw him stationed in various locations, including South Korea. His arrival in Korea coincided with a tense event—the beaching of a North Korean submarine, with its crew having taken their own lives. This incident immediately thrust Mike into a high-alert situation, shaping his early military experiences and offering him a unique perspective on global tensions.

After his service, Mike transitioned into civilian life, attending college and exploring new career paths. His second departure from active duty in 2020 coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, which created unique challenges in returning to civilian life. His experience navigating this difficult transition, alongside his passion for helping other veterans, led him to become a financial advisor.

Recognizing the struggles veterans face in the civilian workforce, Mike founded the U.S. Patriot Chamber of Commerce in 2022. His goal is to help veterans not only find jobs but thrive in their careers, assisting them in transitioning from military to civilian life. By partnering with various leaders and organizations, Mike’s chamber helps veterans develop the necessary skills to succeed in the private sector.

The chamber focuses on building networks for veterans, connecting them with military-friendly employers and offering guidance on how to transition into civilian roles. With a focus on creating long-term success for veterans, Mike’s organization seeks to grow beyond Tampa Bay, with plans to expand across Florida and eventually nationwide. His vision is to create a space where veterans can learn from private-sector professionals and smoothly integrate into civilian life.

Mike continues to serve in the National Guard, where he values the tight-knit, family-like community. He credits the National Guard for fostering lifelong relationships and a strong sense of camaraderie, which has motivated him to continue serving. His passion for helping veterans succeed is evident in his work with the chamber and his ongoing efforts to support his fellow servicemen and women.

Mike Roger’s story is one of resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to supporting veterans. Through his work with the U.S. Patriot Chamber of Commerce, he is helping veterans across the country find purpose and success in their post-military lives.
